"The gap between the best software engineering practice
and the average practice is very wide -
perhaps wider than in any other engineering discipline.

Our acheivements include:

  • Commissioning and implementing the multi language capabilities of the Manufacturing Best Practices application for Cadbury Schweppes PLC. This online application is for international use and currently provides a user interface in four languages.
  • Design and implement both MS Windows and online survey and business process management applications for Aspera Vision cc.
  • Conceptualizing, designing and project managing a highly configurable and scalable multi tiered database framework for Basix Automation in record time enabling them to meet almost unattainable deadlines without compromising on quality and functionality.
  • Implement object oriented analysis and design through UML modeling at Basix providing a common documentation and specification language across projects and thus standardizing module interface specification and improving benefits from reusability.
  • Designed and implemented a unique batch control system for the Polifin Peroxide plant in Sasolburg; one of the very few peroxide plants in the world not to have a fatal accident since commissioning the system in 1992.
  • Conceptualized, designed and managed the Polifin SAP data migration project established as an emergency measure when the data migration of the SAP implementation project were posing a project critical risk thus enabling SAP to be commissioned on time.
  • Design and implementation of a replacement for the Risk Assessment System for Eskom.

In Principle

At DQi, we consider Software Development to be the set of activities that results in software products. Software development may include research, new development, modification, reuse, re-engineering, maintenance, or any other activities that result in new or modified software products.

The Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) has long been considered a black box approach to the black art of separating clients from their hard earned cash. Software projects are notorious for scope creep and synonymous with not making targets.

"To a man with a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
Mark Twain

In stark contrast  to Mark Twain's sentiment, Digital Intelligence calls for an open minded approach to the SDLC. A high frequency of concrete deliverables allows the end user to do early testing and familiarization. It further dictates smart software design producing truly reusable modules, in effect resulting in predominantly mature systems, even for bespoke (custom designed) software. It also means using the right digital tool for the job as far as functionality, usability and price is concerned. Contact us for Sotware Development

The DQi Team

Some of the members of the DQi development team have over seventeen years of experience building custom and commercial multi-user, multi tiered data base, process control and imbedded control systems using a multitude of technologies. This includes extensive, hands-on experience of the complete SDLC.

In systems analysis and design we maintain a balance between company strategy, requirements, technical excellence, cutting edge technology, budget and time scales.

We excel in Object Oriented analysis and design using predominantly UML modelling. Although we concentrate increasingly on modern Microsoft technologies like the .NET Framework and MS SQL, our skills set includes many traditional programming languages and technologies allowing us to interface with, improve or migrate many legacy systems.

We tend to adopt the methodologies of our customers if they prefer for the simple reason that we believe in making the experience as painless to the customer as possible. It is our experience that the methodology per se does not dictate the success or failure of a design. We are standing by to improve your Software Development Experience
